QUICK REVIEW by TOM, DICK & HAIRY A philosophical summary of open mic night at The Camp when it was on Main Street, Cape Girardeau, MO. |
TOM![]() Tom is a long time music
lover who enjoys all kinds of music, especially screaming guitars and
bands that rock! He collects web addresses, emails, and other
data. Please send your comments or suggestions on any reviewed
band to Tom |
Dick
is a real jerk with no tact who can find fault with Jesus Christ
himself. Nobody likes him. He's developed a real pissy
attitude. But, his ravings often hint how a band could improve
its act. Don't let this asswipe get you down. |
HAIRY![]() Appearance is everything to Hairy.
He's a classy and meticulous groomer who thinks performers ought to
look as good as him. He focuses on an artist's look and wants a band to
put on a visual show! |

A note from Tom:
Tom, Dick & Hairy review no
more. Bob closed The Camp in Cape Girardeau.
In January, 2006, he started holding Open Mic Night in St. Louis. I hear he's back in Cape now.
This is
THE BEST OF OPEN MIC! ![]() Tom & Bob Camp are some rough looking characters. But, they had a great time at Open Mic Night! ![]() Brandon Glenn's perfectly executed guitar and fucked up drunken vocals were unique! The crowd loved it! ![]() Jerry Swan performed his original It's an Open Mic. ![]() Josh Boyd, Mojo Filter's drummer, filled in whenever a drummer or photographer was needed. He often brought his much appreciated drum set. ![]() Akira Kanzawa often brought his fine guitar skills. ![]() Chaps Without Pants are Dr. Bill & friends. They had an amazing act. The crowd really got into "Bad Chemicals," which couldn't be played without Erin. ![]() Chaps played "Clowns are Scary" ![]() Barefoot Leon & Baxter regularly brought their excellent act to The Camp. Leon's Ozark Mountain Daredevils covers and good natured ongoing "feud" with Krystle were most entertaining! ![]() Krystle Bergjans vocals and acoustic guitar act seemed to get better every time she came to The Camp. She blossomed into a fine performer with excellent originals, including The Man Song and Hearts of Crystal. She even had a fan club and mascot! ![]() Smitty sometimes played solo. ![]() Wes is one of the best bass players around. He filled in whenever needed. The Dirty 30's Rocked the crowd. ![]() Bob Camp often filled in moments between performers with his fine deep vocals and acoustic guitar. Bob knows a whole lot of songs! ![]() Andrew graced The Camp with some of the finest acoustic guitar and vocals I've heard. Andrew & Steve ![]() A Pair to Draw To is Ashley Irwin & Dustin Sitzes, of Roadside Memory fame. These guys are really talented! ![]() Aaron & Shawn rocked The Camp. ![]() Matt Irwin, of Roadside Memory fame, often brought his fine vocal and keyboard act to Open Mic Night. ![]() Jason Ryan, of Prom Night Heroes, started his solo career at The Camp. Tattoo, Karl Ketchum, did some fine original tunes. ![]() Bob came up with original names for musicians who formed impromptu groups, like Holy Crap for Matt, Danetta, Ashley & Dustin. ![]() Stella Blue sang and played solo on original songs. ![]() Jeremy Bratton entertained with excellent mellow covers of punk rock tunes. ![]() Two & a Half Men performed excellent a cappella covers. ![]() The Halleblujah Singers are a bunch of folks who got together to jam - Danetta, Jen, Akira, George & Bob. ![]() Dominion with The Lizard is a family that played some teeth rattling heavy metal rock! ![]() Mojo Heroes is part of Mojo Filter & Prom Night Heroes and Bob Camp. ![]() Dr. Bill sometimes played solo. ![]() Ashley Irwin soloed, too. ![]() So did Josh Maxwell of MojoFilter fame. ![]() Toby McCrawdad brought the American spirit to The Camp. ![]() Ashley & Matt Irwin are two talented cousins. ![]() The Kitties were something you had to see to appreciate! ![]() Nick Parsons was great! ![]() Prom Night Heroes always drew some fine looking babes to the dance floor. ![]() Jen, Joshua and Josh of Mojo Filter JAMMED!!! ![]() Chris Beasley helped jam when he could. ![]() Andrew & Jake played some fine herbal tunes. THE CROWD The crowd at Open Mic
Night were some of the best people I've ever met. Usually,
90% were musicians. The rest really enjoyed good music.
They were always supportive of performers. It was a great
place for a young artist to learn to play in public. It was
a "less stress" environment.
A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pajama Party Open Mic Night ![]() It was a diverse crowd. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For a while one night, 100% of the crowd was barefoot. Hell. This IS Missouri! ![]() Bigger is better! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() GOOD NIGHT, EVERYONE! |
