Bertha,   Crowd:

CampCamp
TOM:  A young lady started this calm Open Mic Night at the Camp.  But, we missed most of her songs and didn't catch her name.  She did an interesting karaoke type act.  We hope to catch her whole set next time.

DICK:  Bertha sucks!
Oh.... And, death to America!

HAIRY: She looked like she knows how to sing.

Bob,    Crowd: CampCampCampCamp
TOM:  Bob "Johnny Cash" Camp took the stage for some covers of my favorite old country singer, who is no longer with us.  Bob did a wonderful tribute to Johnny, including covers of "Tennessee Stud," "I Still Miss Someone," and a "Folsom Prison Blues Medley."  Bob ended with a cover of a tune Kris Kristofreson wrote for Johnny Cash "Lord Help Me Jesus."

DICK:  Bob sucks!  But, Johnny Cash was great!
Oh.... And, death to America!

HAIRY: Bob even looked a little like Johnny Cash tonight. It was great!

Bob

Andrew,    Crowd: CampCampCampCamp
TOM:  Andrew started his wonderful acoustic guitar and vocals set with an instrumental "The Moon Is In the Sky."  Andrew has got to be one of the best acoustic guitar players around.  He gets better every time he comes to Open Mic Night.  He continued with a tribute to Bev - "Shut the Fuck Up, You Dirty Bitch."  I sense a little hostility here.  Hmmmm.   Andrew mellowed out with "Tangled Up in Blue.  After that, he did a great cover of the Meat Puppets "Lake of Fire" and an original, "Broken Reality In Every Blade of Grass." Andrew finished with "Everybody Needs t Smoke a Little Weed, Sometime" and a Nirvana tune "Jesus Doesn't Want Me For a Sunbeam."   Andrew says "The Camp is bad ass."  I couldn't agree more.  He also "wishes Bevis & Butthead were still alive."  Ditto.

DICK:  Andrew sucks!  But, I suspect Bev sucks more.
Oh.... And, death to America!

HAIRY: Andrew looks pretty cool in his baggy shorts and white tee.  I kind of miss the tie dyed shirt, though.

Daryn,    Crowd: CampCampCampCamp
TOM:  Daryn Brooks of the Roving Gigolos brought his intense acoustic and vocal act to The Camp for something different.  Daryn started with a couple of tunes from a band he was in a long time ago, the Bottlerockets'-- "White Boy Blues" and "Indianapolis."  He continued with a Beatles song - "I've Just Seen Death."  Daryn ended with "The Edmond Fitzgerald" and an original.  Daryn said "I Was OK."  Actually, he was very good.  Come see Daryn and the Roving Gigolos at Breakaways October 28.

DICK:  Daryn sucks!
Oh.... And,

HAIRY: Daryn looked great in black.  He, and the crowd, looked like they had a good time.

Jason,    Crowd: CampCampCampCamp
TOM:  Jason Ryan, bass player for Prom Night Heroes, started his fine acoustic and vocals set with a Beatles cover "Eleanor Rigby."   Then, he continued with something entirely different from the Scissors Sisters "Take Your Mama Out" and a nifty original "September," which one of the crowd described as "very Tracy Chapmanesque." After another Beatles tune "Nothings Gonna Change My World," Jason ended with A perfect Circle cover "A Stranger."

DICK:  Jason sucks!  Tracy Chapman sucks!
Oh.... And, death to America!

HAIRY: I'm not sure why.  But, Jason looked a little scrawny tonight.

Holy Crap,    Crowd: CampCampCampCamp
TOM:  Holy Crap are three members of Roadside Memory fame - Matt Irwin (keyboard), Ashley Irwin (vocals) and Dustin Sitzes (acoustic) and Danetta from Project 621.   They did great versions of songs written by Matt and Ashley, including "Run Away," "Nothing Inside," and one dedicated to me "Come Closer."   It doesn't get any better than this!

DICK:  Holy Crap sucks!  What kind of a name is that?  I suspect Bob had something to do with it.
Oh.... And, death to America!

HAIRY: These folks looked and sounded great!  Wow!

Jeb,    Crowd: CampCampCampCamp
TOM:  I was very distracted by Holy Crap singing "Come Closer."  So, I somehow missed getting info on this guy.  Sorry dude!  If someone would be kind enough to send us some info, we'll add it here.

DICK:  Some Guy sucks!
Oh.... And, death to America!

HAIRY: He looked like a serious musician.

Riley,    Crowd: CampCampCampCamp
TOM:  Jeb, bass player of the Dirty 30's, brought a fine acoustic and vocals solo performance to The Camp.  He started with a really sad song "When the Bottle's Gone."  I missed the names of a couple of good tunes.  But, Jeb finished with "I Got the Blues from San Fransisco Bay."   Good show!

DICK:  Jeb sucks!  I wished he would've brought more of the gang.
Oh.... And, death to America!

HAIRY: Jeb looked cool.

The Crowd:
The crowd included more than the usual amount of artists and musicians.  Everyone gets along like one big happy family at "The Camp."
