The
Best of Open Mic at
The Camp With Willis!
Photos

Nick
Crowd:

TOM: Nick Parsons returned to The Camp with his
fine guitar
and vocal show. He did two Ryan Adams tunes - "English
girls are pretty when they play guitar"
and "Without You."
Nick performed excellent covers of two songs from the Beatles White
Album - "Happiness Is a Warm
Gun" and "Julia."
DICK: Nick sucks! He needs a couple of hot dancers to sway to
his
music. : )
Oh.... And, death to America!
HAIRY: Nice tie-dyed shirt!
Prom
Night Heroes Crowd:

TOM: Prom Night
Heroes
is Scott Ryan (vocals, bass), Jason Ryan (guitar, vocals) and Tommy
Quaite (drums). Scott says "If I'd known we were playing, I
would've drank more." Jason says "If I had known we were
playing,
I wouldn't have come." Tommy says the Heroes are "better than
a
used condom or bloody tampon." They performed rockin' covers
of
Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever," and "Machine Head" by Bush.
Corey
Easley joined them with his sax on "Play
That Funky Music" by Wild
Cherry. Prom Night Heroes play list
includes their own "Enjoy the Rain," "Two Princes," and "Yeah,"
Weezer's "Island in the Sun," 311's "Amber" and "Semi Charmed Life,"
Red Hot Chili Pepper's "Under the Bridge," Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me
Out," "The Warmth" by Incubus, Green Day's "Boulevard," Black Sabbath's
"Paranoid," and Green Day's "When I Come Around."
DICK: Prom Night Heroes suck! We don't need any funky music
around here.
Oh.... And, death to America!
HAIRY: The Heroes attract more hot chicks to the dance floor
than
any group I've seen at The Camp. These guys rock!
But,
you'd think Jason could afford pants without huge holes in them.
Mojo
Filter Crowd:

TOM: Jen, Josh, and Joshua are Mojo Filter.
They
were joined for the first time ever by Jen's Dad, Bob Henderson, on
bass. Mojo performed their own "Known You Forever," "Lonesome
Me," and "Dirty Man," and Stevie Ray Vaughan's "The
Sky Is Crying," Clapton's "Before
You Accuse Me," Robert Johnson's
"Crossroads,"
John Prine's "Angel From Montgomery," and Led Zeppelin's "Whole
Lotta Love." These
folks jam!
DICK: Mojo Filter sucks! There's something fundamentally
wrong
with a woman singing "Whole Lotta Love." It's just wrong.
Oh.... And, death to America!
HAIRY: Jen looked really hot. Oh. Maybe I
shouldn't
say that with her Dad around. Josh looks MUCH cooler with a
full
set of drums. Joshua's Hendrix shirt is nifty. But,
I miss
his hat and flying vee.
Kitties
Crowd:

TOM: The Kitties
wowed the crowd again with their wunderbar show. They
performed
"Calculating" and "I Am Pulling Your Leathers," which sounded a lot
like their smash hit "I
Am Pushing Your Buttons."
(PDF) This is entertainment at its
finest.
DICK: Kitties suck! I don't get it. German rock
humor sucks.
Oh.... And, death to America!
HAIRY: The Kitties put on quite a show in their black garb, outstanding
choreography, light show, and huge calculator. They are an
act
you won't soon forget.
Special guest
Willis
Crowd:

TOM: Willis
is a "fine
Boulder, Colorado based jazzy, funky, swingy, bluesy, tripped-out,
cold-bonking, ear poppin, neurotic-yet-nice, rock your ass all night
long, grass-stained, brand spanking new, yet
finely aged quartet
and their original tunes
are sure
to keep a smile
on your face as well as
a little swing
in the hips and
a bounce
in the knees." Willis is
Kyle
Ussery (bass), Chris Rowland (keyboard), Jerome Salken (drums) and Pete
Kartsounes (guitar, vocals, harmonica). The performed their
own
"Yo Mamba" and Gypsy Woman." Isaac, a local keyboardist
joined
them on Hendrix's "Fire." These guys are SMOOTH!
DICK: Willis sucks! They are way too mellow and groovy for me.
Oh.... And, death to America!
HAIRY: Willis looks like rock stars. What can I
say.
They had the babes dancing.
But now, Bob says it's
time to go.
